I wrote this shortly after my daughter met her husband. I knew when I looked into his eyes, which were the same color as my daughter's, I thought I had lost her, for a husband and wife's bond is far greater than that of a daughter and mother's, but I found that I was wrong, I had not lost her, I only gained another angel to enhance my life.

My Faithful Friend, Mentor in Life
THE ORPHANED SERAPH IN THE CLOUD
High up in the Heavens, past the sun, the moon and the stars, where the angels reside, live the souls of unborn children whose previous lives were unfulfilled and the knowledge of life unrequited. Some were in their second stage of reincarnation, some in their third, and others, still more.So God said to each one of them, "Go forth my children and choose cautiously and wise your guide for she will determine the faith of your immortal souls and end your torment of reincarnation.Your mission is to discover the true meaning of life and be with Me forever in the everlasting. But remember - - YOU are also the teacher as well as the student and whomever you choose shall also learn by ye so that she too may enjoy heavenly bliss with Me - - and maybe together - - you shall both reap my rewards." CHAPTER ONE
The cherubs floated upon their clouds, searching aimlessly from one continent to the other.White, black, brown, red, they all yearned for the mother who was to be their salvation and take them away from their billowy cloud to the jeweled foundation of Heaven. The search was long and seemliness fruitless until one cherub shouted to the others. "Their she is!I see her!I'm going down." "Wait!"Shouted the senior cherub, already into her fourth life."How do you know she's the one.Remember what the Maker said.Choose carefully and wisely. The other ones landed you back here. And frankly, Arbrab, I'm getting tired of looking at your angelic face.I love you dearly, how could I not, being with you so long every 70 years or so, but because I love you, I want to see you in the arms of His heavenly grace." "Oh, Yram, I know.I know in my heart of hearts that she's the one.I feel it so strongly. And besides, she needs me. Remember also what the Maker said.He said, `Remember - - you are also the teacher as well as the student and whom you choose shall also learn by ye so that she too may enjoy heavenly bliss with Me and the two of you shall both reap My rewards.'" "Yes.So He did.Well my friend," Yram sighed, "go ye to your guide. And all be well and good.Wait.I'm getting a feeling. You may be right.I feel this is the one for you - - as if - - I too, have know her.Yes.It is right. You have my blessings and maybe - - I won't see you until the Heavens are solid upon our feet." "Take care Yram."And I hope you find your guide.I love you.Goodbye."And with that, the cherub arbrab spread her tiny wings and flew towards earth. Yram stood watching as Arbrab took her dissension to bond with her guide.A tear flowed down her cheek as the cloud she and the other awaiting cherubs claimed as their turf for endless years, drifted away to find their own true guide. CHAPTER TWO
The woman bore pain in her face and soul. Her mother layed dying in a hospital bed in Chicago, and her face swollen discolored from a beating she had taken two hours previously from her short-tempered husband al because she had changed the channel on the television. He left her in the small apartment in Sana Ana, CA to make his way back to Camp Pendleton where he was stationed as a Marine. She had neither food nor money. Her dilemma was one of hopeless refrain. As she pondered her bleak situation, she went into the kitchen, ran some cold water over a washcloth and held it on her face.A few minutes later, a friend of her husband, who had gone AWOL three weeks before and taught her how to play pool, burst through the door. "Hey, wanna play some pool down at Cal's.I hustled some money from some guys who thought they were aces and could bea.....what the HELL happened to you!"He shouted. "Nothing.Nothing Rick." "Nothing my ass!Did he hit you!"I thought he promised he wasn't gonna do that anymore!" "I guess he lied. You know how hot tempered he is.I swear Rick.I didn't do anything.I just changed the channel on the TV and he jumped up, got so angry, and. . .well. . .it's nothing." "Nothing!Jeesus!Your face looks like you've been in a fight with Rocky Graciano." The Chosen went over to the couch and sat down with the face cloth soothing the welts on her eye. "It's not my face I'm worried about Rick.He. . .he. . .slapped me so hard that I fell down and slid across the floor.I've. . .I've been nauseated for a long time now and. . .when I called my sister-in-law, she thought I may be pregnant so I went to the base doctor. . . .he confirmed it.I'm two month's along. I'm worried about the baby because I haven't had enough to eat and. . . . . ." "Oh my God!You're pregnant!Oh Jeese!Oh Jeese!"Rick began to pace, running his fingers through his already balding head. "Rick. My mom's really sick. She's in the hospital and had three quarters of her stomach removed because of ulcers and a hernia from her bowels to her heart. She has tubes running all over her and my sister-in-law said they don't expect her to live.I haven't any money and I've got to get home. What am I gonna do!"The Chosen One burst out crying uncontrollably. Rick stopped pacing, thought for a moment, and gave her the answer. "I'll tell you what you're gonna do. You're going home. I'm driving you to the airport. You're catching the next plane to Chicago to be with your mother and get to a doctor. You're gonna need prenatal care and you're not gonna get it here." "But. . .I don't have any money." "Don't worry about that.I've got plenty.I told you I hustled these guys playing pool.I won a lot.Hey!You know how good I am at pool." The Chosen One looked at Rick with tear-stained eyes and replied, "I know you're good at pool Rick, but I can't take your money, and I wish you would turn yourself in.If the MP's catch you, they'll court-martial you and. . ." "Don't you worry about it."Rick soothed, sitting down next to her, hugging her shoulders."They won't catch me."He handed her a handkerchief and stood up."Now. . .let's get packing.I'll call the airlines. You call someone at home to let them know you're coming. No arguments." The Chosen One looked at Rick questioningly as he took her arms and led her to the bedroom to help her pack. CHAPTER THREE
The Reunion and Revelation
The Chosen One left her husband a note she went home to be with her dying mother. She did not indicate where she got the money from nor how she got to the airport, for his jealous temper would ensure Rick a beating. He did not understand that women could be friends with men without a sexual content. All she said was, she did not know whether she would be returning. She visited her mother in the hospital and stayed with her day and night for a week, without realizing that her own condition required medical care, but all she could think of was that it was her fault that her mother was sick for her having left in the middle of the night to fly to California to be with a man she loved, and felt it was her fault that her mother had developed ulcers and wound up in the state she was in until finally her sister-in-law stepped in and talked some sense into her.
The Chosen One's mother began to recover and her belly flourished with constant doctor care and massive meals.Every night she laid in bed, rubbing her growing belly and talking to it. "You know sweetheart, you're the first human being who's ever really cared about me and love me unconditionally without asking or expecting anything in return. And I know you're a girl.I feel it.You feel calm and soothing within my belly and. . .I don't know how to explain it but. . .loving.You feel oh so loving and calm. You're the first entity in my life that I can call mine. And I'm not sharing you.Oh no.You're all mine.I will carry you nine months.I will feed you, love you, read to you, talk to you and nurture you.I will give you every bit of love, kindness, and knowledge that I possess and I will never share you for you will be totally mine. And if anyone or anything tries to hurt you I promise, I will hurt them twofold. And so, the Chosen One nurtured her child. And her child grew within her.She nurtured her by reading book after book to her.Jack London, Shakespeare, Mary Shelly, Keats, Longfellow, Poe, all the great masters of literature and endless books on history, educating her child with love and knowledge. She ate fish, even though she hated it because she read that fish was a brain food. She did everything right to help the unborn child and expected nothing in return except love.
Arbrab was finally born. The face was cherubic. The disposition was angelic. And in the years to come, the Chosen One was not disappointed. The child developed into an understanding, beautiful and intelligent human being. Then, the day that the Chosen One dreaded came to past.A man came into Arbrab's life and she was finally forced to share her with trepidation. But the man loved and cherished Arbrab as much as the Chosen One did and that made it alright. For the Chosen One knew in her heart and soul that she was "the Chosen One" - - and that Arbrab would stay by her side always - no matter what - - and together - they would be - -each other's salvation.
