When my niece Jacki, and a lawyer friend that I worked with, Bill, first tasted this, they ate it right from the jar until it was half gone!My husband says I should market it but I’d rather just can it and give it to friends and family.I usually make 10 qts of this so just adjust the recipe to suit your needs.And I always taste to see if it needs extra of any ingredient.
2 lrg onions, minced 5 tbsp garlic with juice (jar kind) 1 stick butter 1 bottle ketchup ½ lb brown sugar ½ jar Yellow mustard ¼ cup Lemon juice ½ bottle Worcestershire ½ bottle Liquid Smoke ¼ cup parsley Salt ‘n pepper to taste Optional:¼ cup Jack Daniels, flamed, until alcohol burns out Note:if you like hotter, add red pepper flakes or Tabasco sauce
Melt butter in 12 qrt pan.Add onions and garlic and sauté for 2 mins.Add the rest of the ingredients and cook over med heat for 30-45 mins. until thick. Adjust ingredients:it should be sweet but piquant.If you deem it needs more of one of the ingredients, feel free to add according to your preference.Refrigerate.Better next day.
